Vintage Rainbow Brite Doll Mattel Red Butler 1983. Original Rainbow Brite and Color Kids dolls are still quite easy to find online. These gorgeous dolls were made by Mattel and launched in 1983. The concept of Rainbow Brite had began as a Hallmark greeting card illustration. Hallmark then decided to work with Mattel to create a series of dolls and toys based on stories devised around Rainbow Brite and her friends. In 1984 a TV special and comic was released, and in 1986 a popular TV series followed. These shows were screened around the world.
