The original Saint Seiya Saint Cloth Myth EX line began in 2011 as Bandai’s modernized successor to the standard Saint Cloth Myth figures. Its first release was Gemini Saga, launched in Japan on August 27, 2011. Bandai introduced EX as a completely redesigned system rather than a simple improvement to the old body. The aim was to produce slimmer, more anime-accurate characters whose armor fitted closely while preserving enough articulation for signature attack poses.
The original EX Gold Saints represent the familiar golden armor from the classic Sanctuary and Hades stories, not the much larger God Cloths from Soul of Gold. Their designs are therefore cleaner, more restrained and considerably easier to display. They still have elaborate helmets and shoulder pieces, but they lack the enormous wings and additional layers of the God Cloth figures. Some catalogues list Seiya as November 2003, while Bandai’s corporate history dates the brand launch to December; this probably reflects announcement, retail-distribution or regional-date differences.
This series includes the following characters:
In Saint Seiya, the Gold Saints are the most powerful warriors in Athena’s army. So, many of the EX line feature Gold Saints like the following:
