All The My Little Pony 40th Anniversary Ponies (And How to Buy Them Today)

Hasbro's 40th Anniversary re-release of My Little Pony was a celebration of the franchise's enduring legacy. Here's how to find them today.
My Little Pony 40th Anniversary - All Ponies

Hasbro’s My Little Pony 40th Anniversary re-release was designed to honor the original G1 ponies that started it all, rekindling nostalgia for longtime collectors while introducing the classic designs to a new generation of enthusiasts (just like the 35th Aniversary release, just five years earlier).

By faithfully recreating the original ponies and their accessories, the anniversary line highlighted the timeless charm and magic that made My Little Pony a cultural phenomenon. It also served as a tribute to the franchise’s roots, demonstrating Hasbro’s recognition of the significance of My Little Pony in pop culture. So, let’s take a look at these new retro (but vintage-inspired) ponies. You can click on any of them to learn more and see links to marketplaces where you can get yours today.

The Retro My Little Ponies

In celebration of My Little Pony’s 40th anniversary, Hasbro re-released several beloved characters from the original 1983 lineup, allowing both new fans and longtime collectors to experience the charm of the classic ponies. Additionally, Basic Fun! has introduced other special releases for the 40th anniversary, including the Celestial PoniesAurora, Milky Way, Nova, and Polaris—which were originally unreleased designs from the 1990s.

The 40th Anniversary Celestial Ponies

Let’s dive into the latest 40th Anniversary edition of G1 My Little Ponies! This long-awaited series includes Aurora, Nova, Polaris, and Milky Way. The Celestial Ponies are available in complete sets or individual packaging, so you have flexible options if you are a collector.

(My!) My Little Pony G1 Guides

The world of My Little Pony is… huge. We’re talking thirteen years of collections featuring all sorts of figures and toys! So, I’ve been working on creating smaller guides to help you navigate this wonderful pastel-colored world. Below, you will find (some!) pages with ponies sorted by year, collection (such as Birthflower ponies, Spanish Piggies, etc), country, and much more. I hope they help!

With 400 pages of G1 ponies, The Unofficial Vintage My Little Pony Companion is a deep dive into the world of My Little Pony and the people who created the line. The book includes custom-made images of thousands of pony variants, graphics, beautiful illustrations, and, for the first time, a comprehensive list of ALL Nirvana (foreign) ponies shown and described in detail—as well as previously unknown details about how ponies were manufactured and distributed all around the world.

Restoring My Little Pony is the result of almost three years of restoring and customizing My Little Pony toys for my channel RetroGeek Crafts. The book contains 86 pages full of detailed step-by-step guides, project features, material and technique comparisons, and much more. The book is mostly focused on My Little Pony Generation 1 (MLP G1). However, these techniques can be applied to all other generations, including MLP G2, G3, G4, and even G5.

My Book: The Unofficial Vintage My Little Pony Companion

I love Nirvana ponies, so I made a book about them! Well, not just about them, but they are ALL included. The book is called “The Unofficial Vintage My Little Pony Companion” and contains 400 pages of images and descriptions for international and foreign releases of My Little Pony generation One (MLP G1)
