Polly Pocket is a toy line originally created by Bluebird Toys. The first Poly Pocket sets were designed by Chris Wiggs in 1983 for his daughter Kate using a makeup powder compact. By 1989, the first Polly Pockets were sold in stores in the United Kingdom. In the early 1990s, Bluebird Toys made a distribution arrangement with Mattel and was purchased by it in 1998. Vintage Bluebird Polly Pocket Sets 1989

The Vintage Bluebird Polly Pocket Sets were known for their intricate designs and attention to detail. Each set was themed around a different scene, such as a castle, a beach, a school, or a mall, and came with tiny Polly Pocket dolls and various accessories. The cases were designed to resemble everyday objects like a heart locket, a makeup compact, or a shell, adding an element of surprise and whimsy.

During 1989, Bluebird released 37 Polly Pocket sets. These included the popular first beach house and cafe, as well as a pony club, zoo, palm tree island, and animal hospital, among others. Makeup, nails, and ring collector cases were also released this year. Vintage Bluebird Polly Pocket Sets 1993-2002

During 1993, Bluebird released an impressive 52 sets! The numbers kept growing for the following years, with toys being produced until 2002. The last sets on the series were: Amusement Park, Carousel, Butterfly Ride, Twinkle Tree, Sparkle Snowman, and Glitter Raindeer.

The Vintage Bluebird Polly Pocket Sets from 1993 to 2002 mark an era of continued innovation and creativity. During this time, the Polly Pocket line saw significant changes and variations that captivated fans. The sets became larger and more detailed, allowing for richer play experiences.
