Glo Worm was a stuffed toy designed by Hasbro’s Playskool and first introduced in 1982. The body contained a battery-powered device that lit up the toy’s vinyl head when squeezed. This created a soft, comforting glow. The original toy was so successful on release that Hasbro soon after created a series of storybooks, night lights, videos and other merchandise. In 1986, Playskool released a number of toys that also glowed but were made of soft vinyl. They are known as “The Glo Friends”. Their names were: Glo Snugbug, Glo Snail, Glo Doodlebug, Glo Bug, Glo Grannybug, Glo Clutterbug, Glo Bashfulbug, Glo Butterfly, Glo Bopbug, Glo Cricket, Glo Skunkbug, Glo Bookbug, Glo worm, and Glo Nikkibug.
