Description
Nikola Tesla transformed the world in innumerable ways with his extensive array of inventions, the most notable of which was his Alternating Current (AC) electric system. That system powers the modern world. To honor its native son, Serbia has begun a series of coins that honors the man and his inventions.
Those inventions include over 280 to his name and countless others to which he contributed. This coin is part of the second issue in the series. Struck on a one-ounce planchet of .999 fine silver, it is part of a total mintage of 50,000 pieces. The man whom the series honors pose in deep thought on the obverse. He holds his head in his hand at a slight tilt, which indicates that he is deep in thought. Below him are the inscriptions “ELECTRICAL VISIONARY” and “POWERING THE FUTURE,” while inscriptions of his name are included on the rim in English, “NIKOLA TESLA,” and Serbian Cyrillic, “Никола Тесла.
