Description

Ponies: The Galloping is a special crossover set for Magic: The Gathering that merges the iconic fantasy card game with the whimsical world of My Little Pony. Released as part of a promotional effort, the set includes three unique cards featuring beloved characters from the My Little Pony universe: Rarity, a double-faced card showcasing Nightmare Moon/Princess Luna, and Princess Twilight Sparkle.

While these cards feature stunning artwork and clever design elements that reflect the personalities of the ponies, they are not tournament-legal due to their highly unconventional mechanics. The cards are intended as novelty items rather than functional additions to gameplay, though they could potentially be used in casual, creative formats with friends. Among them, the Nightmare Moon/Princess Luna card is arguably the most practical for casual play, as its mechanics are somewhat more aligned with traditional Magic: The Gathering gameplay. The other cards, however, lean heavily into humor and thematic gimmicks. One card references imaginary cards that don’t exist in the game, creating an impossible-to-resolve scenario. Another requires players to incorporate a physical My Little Pony toy into their gameplay.

Overall, Ponies: The Galloping is more of a collector’s item and a fun nod to the crossover potential between two beloved franchises. It celebrates the playful spirit of both My Little Pony and Magic: The Gathering, offering fans of both worlds a unique and memorable piece of crossover history.

Ponies: The Galloping was sold exclusively on HasbroPulse.com for the USA and Canada and was available from October 22, 2019 – November 5, 2019, in time to celebrate the series finale of My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic. Every card set sold donated $30.00 to Extra Life  to benefit the Seattle Children’s Hospital.

More Vintage My Little Pony

My Little Pony, launched by Hasbro in 1983, was a beloved toy line featuring colorful ponies with brushable manes and unique symbols, or “cutie marks,” on their flanks. Each pony had its own name and personality, from unicorns to earth ponies and pegasus ponies, inviting kids to immerse themselves in a magical world of friendship and adventure. The toy line was accompanied by animated specials, a TV series, and movies, making My Little Pony a cherished part of 80s and 90s childhoods and a timeless classic for collectors and fans.

(My!) My Little Pony G1 Guides

The world of My Little Pony is… huge. We’re talking thirteen years of collections featuring all sorts of figures and toys! So, I’ve been working on creating smaller guides to help you navigate this wonderful pastel-colored world. Below, you will find (some!) pages with ponies sorted by year, collection (such as Birthflower ponies, Spanish Piggies, etc), country, and much more. I hope they help!

With 400 pages of G1 ponies, The Unofficial My Little Pony Companion is a deep dive into the world of My Little Pony and the people who created the line.

The book includes custom-made images of thousands of pony variants, graphics, beautiful illustrations, and, for the first time, a comprehensive list of ALL Nirvana (foreign) ponies shown and described in detail—as well as previously unknown details about how ponies were manufactured and distributed all around the world. Restoring My Little Pony is the result of almost three years of restoring and customizing My Little Pony toys for my channel RetroGeek Crafts. The book contains 86 pages full of detailed step-by-step guides, project features, material and technique comparisons, and much more. The book is mostly focused on My Little Pony Generation 1 (MLP G1). However, these techniques can be applied to all other generations, including MLP G2, G3, G4, and even G5.
