Description

Snuzzle is a gray Earth pony from the original 1983 My Little Pony lineup, known as one of the six “Collector Ponies.” She features a light pink mane and tail, blue eyes, and a symbol of pink hearts on her flank. Snuzzle is recognized for her gentle and caring nature, often comforting other ponies when they’re feeling down. She enjoys taking leisurely naps under the rainbow on sunny days. In 2018, Snuzzle was reissued for My Little Pony’s 35th Anniversary by Basic Fun, maintaining her classic design with modern updates.

Snuzzle is a G1 My Little Pony originally released in 1983, although her hoof says 1982. She came as a Flat Foot Pony – all the flat-foot ponies are smaller in size than the rest of the collector’s pose ponies. The pose is Collectors Pose, with a grey body, pink hair, blue eyes and a cluster of pink hearts as the symbol/cutie mark. Snuzzle came with a blue original comb and a blue ribbon.

Different countries often released unique versions of the original Collector Ponies with slight differences in color, hair, or symbols. For Snuzzle, some notable variations include:

  • Spanish Snuzzle: Produced by the company MB in Spain, this version features slightly darker tones in her gray body and pink hair, with differences in the quality of the plastic and paint compared to the original US version.
  • Argentinian Snuzzle: Released by the company Top Toys, the Argentinian Snuzzle sometimes has brighter or more pastel coloring, and the symbols (pink hearts) can vary in size or placement.
  • Italian Snuzzle: Manufactured in Italy, these variations often had softer colors and distinct differences in the texture of the mane and tail.

UK Factfile story:

If ever a pony were a little bit sad or lonely, Snuzzle would be the first to notice and go over and nuzzle her head against theirs. Soon they would cheer up and start to laugh and smile again.

My Little Pony G1 Essentials

If you want to learn more about ponies and how to restore them, here are two resources that can help. The first is the unofficial MLP G1 guide (which has photos, prices, etc). The second is my own book, Restoring My Little Pony!

Restoring My Little Pony is the result of almost three years of restoring and customizing My Little Pony toys for my channel RetroGeek Crafts. The book contains 86 pages full of detailed step-by-step guides, project features, material and technique comparisons, and much more. The book is mostly focused on My Little Pony Generation 1 (MLP G1). However, these techniques can be applied to all other generations, including MLP G2, G3, G4, and even G5.

This unofficial MLP guide to the first generation of My Little Pony (known as G1) was created by Summer Hayes. The book provides everything a collector needs to identify G1 ponies and their accessories, and understand their value. The guide contains large, full color photos of every pony, playset and accessory released in the US (and in some cases in other countries) in the 1980s and 1990s.
