My Little Pony Sweetheart Sisters and Baby Pony Sisters

The Sweetheart Ponies were vintage My Little Pony toys that had a slender shape, painted eye shadow over narrower eyes, and a plastic flower earring.

My Little Pony G1 Sweetheart Sister Sweet Sundrop (Vintage)

My Little Pony G1 didn’t just include Pony Friends, Big Brother, and Sea Ponies, but also a set of “Sisters” with colorful bodies, big symbols, makeup, earrings, and even golden locks of hair! You can find the details below.

These ponies were a new body type that would prove popular, as we will see many other families featuring them in the following years. The Sweetheart Ponies had painted eye shadow over narrower eyes and a plastic flower earring that fit in a hole in the left ear. Their ribbons were made of a mesh or lace material.

Collector’s Note: The stem of the earrings broke quite easily, so it’s harder to find a Sweetheart Sister with an intact one!

These Sweetheart Sisters also had slim bodies, an earring, and eyeshadow, but they included a small bottle of perfume and a scrunchie you could actually wear as well. Their hair was curled. The Year Eight Prom Queen Pony Sisters are:

Glittery Sweetheart Pony Sisters

This was the second set of Sweetheart Sisters released by Hasbro. Just like the ones from previous years, they had slimmer bodies, eye shadow, and an earring that could not be removed. Unlike those earlier families, though, they also had large glittery symbols all over their bodies, necks, and legs. This is actually a broader coverage than the Twice as Fancy ponies! It’s interesting to note that the names for these Sister Ponies don’t seem to entirely match their symbols. For example, Starflash has a pattern of hearts on her flanks, while both Sunblossom and Twinkler have one of stars. The main accessory for the Glittery Sweetheart Sister Ponies was a glittery star pick. The Year Eight Glittery Sweetheart Pony Sisters are:

Baby Pony Sisters (Mail Order)

These two Year Seven Baby Pony Sisters were only available through the mail order system. Li’l Cupcake and Li’l Sweetcake were a couple of unicorn Baby Sister Ponies that cost one horseshoe point or $7 for the pair.

(My!) My Little Pony G1 Guides

The world of My Little Pony is… huge. We’re talking thirteen years of collections featuring all sorts of figures and toys! So, I’ve been working on creating smaller guides to help you navigate this wonderful pastel-colored world. Below, you will find (some!) pages with ponies sorted by year, collection (such as Birthflower ponies, Spanish Piggies, etc), country, and much more. I hope they help!

With 400 pages of G1 ponies, The Unofficial My Little Pony Companion is a deep dive into the world of My Little Pony and the people who created the line.

The book includes custom-made images of thousands of pony variants, graphics, beautiful illustrations, and, for the first time, a comprehensive list of ALL Nirvana (foreign) ponies shown and described in detail—as well as previously unknown details about how ponies were manufactured and distributed all around the world. Follow the link to learn more!

Restoring My Little Pony is the result of almost three years of restoring and customizing My Little Pony toys for my channel RetroGeek Crafts. The book contains 86 pages full of detailed step-by-step guides, project features, material and technique comparisons, and much more.

The book is mostly focused on My Little Pony Generation 1 (MLP G1). However, these techniques can be applied to all other generations, including MLP G2, G3, G4, and even G5.
