During the late 1980s, Hasbro released a group of animals friends for My Little Pony. These eight characters are highly collectible today! You can find the full list and links to second-hand Pony Friends below.

Hasbro introduced the Pony Friends during Generation 1, in Year 5 (1986–87), as characters who weren’t ponies at all. They were other animals given the full MLP treatment (pastel vinyl bodies, brushable hair, and cutie marks or rump symbols). Each original figure came with a brush or comb and ribbon.
My Little Pony Year 5
Year Five of My Little Pony saw the launch of a set of animal friends that came with a brush or comb and a ribbon as accessories. They didn’t feature rump symbols, but their bodies were covered in unique markings.
This first set included a camel, a giraffe, a zebra, and a lion. Hasbro would later release additional animal friends in different molds, always accompanied by a comb or brush and a ribbon. This line was not available in the United Kingdom, which makes these figures more difficult to find there today. See all Year Five ponies >
My Little Pony Year 6
The second set of Pony Friends was released during Year Six. Cutesaurus had a plastic tail, but all the others featured soft, brushable manes and tails that encouraged styling and play. Just like the previous Pony Friends, these toys were highly collectible and sought-after by Hasbro enthusiasts.
