The Birthflower Ponies were a set of twelve flower-inspired characters, one for each month. All of these ponies, first introduced during Year Three, were in Collectors Pose.
The My Little Pony Generation 1 Birthflower Ponies were a unique set of twelve ponies exclusively available through Mail Order. Each of them was designed to represent a specific month and its corresponding birth flower.
The standard versions of the Birthflower Ponies featured primarily white bodies with magenta manes, tails, and flower symbols, making them quite a cohesive. In contrast, the Alternate Birthflower Ponies were produced in a range of colors (even more vibrant!) but had a much more limited release, making them rarer and highly sought after by collectors.
The Birthflower Ponies were a set of twelve flower-inspired characters, one for each month. All of these ponies, first introduced during Year Three, were in Collectors Pose. They were available only through Mail Order and cost $3 plus two Horseshoe Points. The U.S. releases of these ponies are all white with magenta or fuchsia hair.
However, twelve Alternate Birthflower Ponies were released in different versions around the world. These ponies kept the same cutie mark designs but featured different body and symbol colors. For example, April Daisy’s standard release symbol was light blue, but its alternate version has a green stem and yellow flower. Let’s take a look at the first three Birthflower My Little Ponies: January, February, and March. That’s the standard white body version with magenta hair, and their alternate counterparts, which vary in colors.

The third group (and, again, these groups are just for easier organization; they were NOT promoted as seasons!) incorporates some blue bodies, with August and September being specially sought-after.
