Vintage Spanish My Little Ponies are best known for a line-up of uniquely shaped ponies commonly referred to as “Piggies”.

Spain is known for its uniquely shaped Generation One My Little Ponies, commonly referred to as “Piggies”. These were made by the companies Brekar and Milton Bradley and have grown in popularity in recent years. There is no exact match between International releases and Spanish Piggies, so I have instead opted for using the localized names.
Although Spanish Ponies are frequently linked to these different-looking poses, there is more to the country’s production than the Piggies lineup. Spain also released thirteen ponies with no stamp, eight rainbow ponies, and several other familiar series, such as Twinkle Eyed, Twice as Fancy, Big Brothers, and more.
Spanish nirvana ponies were first introduced by manufacturers Brekar and Milton Bradley under Hasbro licensing. These ponies have a piggy pose and the hooves are not marked. They also have blinking eyes like the US Beddy-Bye-Eyed baby ponies. Referred to as Spanish Piggy ponies, they are considered very rare and valuable. After the piggy ponies, regular Spanish ponies were made and sold in Spain. They are sometimes marked as “SPAIN” on their hooves, though not always. Many variations and types were made.
The Piggy Ponies use the original “Piggy Pose”, which follows the shape of a horse doing the Spanish walk (with one leg in the front raised). The mane and tail are quite long, possibly inspired by Spanish Andalusian horses. These ponies didn’t just have a different body; they also had blinking eyes that somewhat resembled those of Beddy-Bye-Eyed babies.
