Ultraman is an alien from the Land of Light in the Nebula M78 galaxy. He belongs to a race of beings known as the Ultras, who are powerful, light-based beings that serve as protectors of the universe. The first Ultraman, known simply as Ultraman, comes to Earth while chasing a giant monster. During his arrival, he accidentally collides with a human named Shin Hayata, a member of the Science Patrol (a defense force created to protect Earth from monsters and alien threats). To save Hayata’s life, Ultraman merges with him, giving him the ability to transform into Ultraman when danger strikes.

Ultraman possesses several extraordinary abilities. One of these is Size Alteration, allowing him to grow to gigantic proportions, typically when battling kaiju (giant monsters). His signature finishing move is the Specium Ray, a powerful beam of destructive energy that he shoots from his crossed hands. Additionally, Ultraman has the ability to fly at high speeds and demonstrates super strength and agility, making him capable of lifting and fighting enormous creatures with ease. However, Ultraman is subject to a Limited Time on Earth—he can only remain in his gigantic form for approximately three minutes, which is tracked by the “Color Timer” on his chest. If battles last too long, his energy could be depleted.
