During Year Six of My Little Pony’s Generation 1, Hasbro released the first set of Brush’n Grow Ponies, which had long tails and manes that could be pulled even further (and pulled back in by turning the pony’s head). They were a mix of Earth and Pegasus ponies, but all had rainbow hair and symbols related to hair care, such as braids, bonnets, and ponytails.
The Brush’n Grow Ponies came with a comb set, a long brush, and hair barrettes. A second series, the Princess Brush ’n Grow Ponies, was introduced the following year.
My Little Pony Year 6
The first set, released in Year Six (1987-1988), introduced six ponies with long, luscious tails and gorgeous color schemes, making them instant favorites for those who loved brushing and braiding their ponies’ hair. These ponies weren’t just about beauty—they had a playful charm that made them feel magical, almost as if their hair could grow with a wish!
By Year Seven (1988-1989), the Brush ‘n Grow concept was taken to the next level with the Princess Brush ‘n Grow Ponies, a more dazzling set of four ponies.
