Description
The 1986 Fireball Island Board Game is a beloved vintage adventure game by Milton Bradley that captured the imagination of kids with its unique 3D board design and thrilling gameplay. Set on a treacherous island, players race to steal the jewel from the top of Vul-Kar, a menacing idol, and escape to safety before their rivals.
What made the game special was its dynamic board, featuring a raised, molded island terrain with bridges, caves, and paths. The centerpiece was Vul-Kar, who could launch fiery “fireballs” (marbles) down the board, knocking over players and creating chaos. The game’s mix of strategy, luck, and interactive elements kept players engaged as they tried to outmaneuver both Vul-Kar and their opponents.
The game includes a plastic tiki idol placed in the middle of a molded 3D board. Players try to climb up the sides of the mountain using paths and caves with the aim of retrieving the idol’s giant ruby and take it to a boat waiting down the other side. Both the tiki idol and the volcano regularly expel fireballs that, shaped like marbles, roll down the sides of the mountain. These fireballs can plow through explorer pawns or topple bridges.
