Welcome to My Little Pony G1 merch and gift ideas section. Here you will find an assortment of My Little Pony products, most of them focused on the first generation of ponies (or G1, the vintage ponies!). This is my favorite generation, so I have explored the web and gathered some of the best merchandise inspired by these little horses – and discovered some beautiful My Little Pony toy sets, coloring books, coffee mugs, sticker sets, and much more.

Cotton Candy is Ponyland’s dedicated nurse and herbalist. She has a pink body and pink hair.
Blue Belle loves to explore the woods in spring. She has a light blue body and lilac hair.
The My Little Pony G1 Collector Ponies were the original lineup of ponies released in 1982, marking the launch of the My Little Pony franchise. These six Earth ponies introduced the distinctive style and charm that would define the brand, including unique colors, symbols (AKA cutie marks), and personalities that set them apart. Here’s the lineup, followed by links to ALL ponies categorized by year of release.
Although My Little Pony has already gone through five different generations (each with their own individual ponies and stories), Generation 1 (or G1) remains a classic favorite. But did you know Hasbro still produces merch based on these original ponies? That’s right! There are all sorts of collectible items that celebrate not just the characters but also their adventures back in the 1980s and 1990s. Here are some of my favorites.
Let’s start with the latest (40th) Anniversary edition of G1s. Hasbro released the Celestial Ponies for the My Little Pony’s 40th anniversary. These ponies are a first-time production of original My Little Pony art that was never produced in the 80s. Expand your collection with the Celestial Ponies series, featuring Aurora, Nova, Polaris, and Milky Way. The Celestial Ponies are available in various complete sets and individual packaging.
These 40th Anniversary re-released ponies faithfully recreate the charm and details of the original G1 designs, bringing back beloved characters from the 1983 lineup. Each reissue captures the essence of the classics with vibrant colors, iconic cutie marks, and long, shiny hair perfect for brushing and styling.
The 40th Anniversary My Little Pony (MLP) Plushes are another special commemorative collection released by Hasbro to celebrate four decades of magic and friendship. These plush toys pay homage to the beloved franchise by featuring iconic characters in soft and cuddly form, appealing to fans of all ages. From fan-favorite ponies like Twilight Sparkle and Rainbow Dash to classic characters like Applejack and Pinkie Pie, each plush toy is designed to evoke fond memories of the beloved franchise. Here are the latest plushes you can get:
Hasbro often releases special editions and anniversary collections to commemorate milestones in the franchise. For example, they did so for the 25th, 35th, and 40th anniversary (which I listed above). These sets tend to feature iconic characters, memorable moments, and exclusive collectibles with great attention to detail and high-quality craftsmanship.
One of the highlights of Hasbro Anniversary Sets is that they include exclusive collectibles that, once sold new, are not available elsewhere (such as limited-edition figures, special packaging, or unique accessories that are designed specifically for the anniversary release). Many of the examples below are, in fact, only available second-hand now. Don’t worry, though, they all include links to markets, so you can get them today and add them to your vintage or retro My Little Pony collection :)
The world of My Little Pony is… huge. We’re talking thirteen years of collections featuring all sorts of figures and toys! So, I’ve been working on creating smaller guides to help you navigate this wonderful pastel-colored world. Below, you will find (some!) pages with ponies sorted by year, collection (such as Birthflower ponies, Spanish Piggies, etc), country, and much more. I hope they help!
With 400 pages of G1 ponies, The Unofficial My Little Pony Companion is a deep dive into the world of My Little Pony and the people who created the line.
The book includes custom-made images of thousands of pony variants, graphics, beautiful illustrations, and, for the first time, a comprehensive list of ALL Nirvana (foreign) ponies shown and described in detail—as well as previously unknown details about how ponies were manufactured and distributed all around the world. Follow the link to learn more!
Restoring My Little Pony is the result of almost three years of restoring and customizing My Little Pony toys for my channel RetroGeek Crafts. The book contains 86 pages full of detailed step-by-step guides, project features, material and technique comparisons, and much more. The book is mostly focused on My Little Pony Generation 1 (MLP G1). However, these techniques can be applied to all other generations, including MLP G2, G3, G4, and even G5.
Girl toys from the 80s and 90s hold a special place in the hearts of many. Iconic lines like My Little Pony and Strawberry Shortcake had colorful characters and whimsical worlds, while Rainbow Brite and Care Bears brought magic and friendship to life with plush toys and animated specials. Explore other magical vintage favorites from the 80s and beyond.
